

Sacrifice------------------------------------------Statement of Intention-------------------------------------------- Sacrifice is a short story telling excerpts of the last day of a man in Old Melbourne Gaol in the early 1850’s who will be hanged. The ambiguity of the story leaves it open to the reader enabling him to think of the various possibilities. The crime, the victim and the actual guilty party are hinted at but never stated directly in order to focus on the injustice of the time as well as the passion of the sacrifice that the main character is making for his sister.
